The hockey successes keep coming for Year 9 pupil, Anjalie. Together with her Surbiton U14 teammates, Anjalie travelled to Holland over the Easter weekend to compete in the EuroHockey League (EHL). This brings the adult league winners from England, Spain, Holland, Germany Belgium and France, and their U14 boys’ and girls’ teams for the junior competition .
Surbiton beat Dutch club HDM in their first group game, then narrowly beat the Belgian opponents (that they would eventually meet in the final) 4-3 in the pool stage of the competition. Surbiton beat Campo Madrid 3-0 in the semi-final before beating Braxgata 1-0, making them worthy EuroHockey League champions, becoming the first British team to achieve this honour.
Anjalie has added this prestigious European title to the National title won with TWGGS and now looks forward to the UK Club Nationals that Surbiton are competing in at Nottingham Hockey Centre in May.
