Last term, there were two basketball workshops run by Sophie from Year 9. Last year, Sophie represented the South Region for the Aspire all star tournament, and this year she will be trialling for the England U14 set up in May half term. Here, Sophie reports back on these sessions:
"Pupils from year 7, 8 and 9 took part in these workshops and had a lot of fun. In the workshops, they learnt the basic, fundamental concepts and skills in basketball such as dribbling, shooting and passing. Those drills were practical but also really fun and challenging at the same time. In order to make the sport more competitive, there were also games and matches at the end to let the students apply what they learnt in a real game situation. Thank you for the PE teachers’ support and encouragement for me to run this amazing basketball workshop as well as leading the pupils to an introduction to this new sport. To all pupils who are interested in basketball, feel free to join! Looking forward to the next workshop soon!"
