Music lessons

Many pupils have instrumental tuition at some stage of their time at TWGGS.

We warmly encourage your child to consider having individual music lessons. our visiting music teachers offer tuition no the following instruments: piano, flute, oboe, recorder, clarinet, saxophone, French horn, cornet/trumpet, trombone, tuba, violin, viola, cello, double bass, guitar, ukulele, drums, harp and singing.

The visiting music staff organise their own timetables and their pupils are asked to attend at a different time each week, in order to avoid missing the same curriculum lesson every time. Fixed slots are not usually available, and it is not always possible to schedule students in break/lunch time.

The fees are paid directly to the visiting music teachers and not to TWGGS. The teachers will send an invoice to you directly, usually via email. Please note, it is the pupil's responsibility to avoid having lessons during planned trips/tests/appointments. Instrumental staff will not be able to make changes to their timetable on the day of the lesson, so will need to be notified the week before if there is a reason to change lesson times. 

We hope that all pupils having music lessons at school will participate in one or more of the varied selection of extra-curricular activities offered by the school. The music staff coach a wide range of orchestras, chamber ensembles and choirs, which are un-auditioned and available to everyone. Please urge your child, however timid, to join wholeheartedly in these extra-curricular groups. Their enjoyment of music will undoubtedly increase as they discover the joy of group music making. Our ensembles cater for musicians of all abilities, from beginners to advanced performers. We als regularly introduce new chamber groups should the pupils wish.
