Year 9 Drama Workshops
Year 9 have been busy devising their own short plays on the theme of growing up. They have covered a range of topics to support local primary school children from St Augustine’s and St James’ primary schools, exploring positive mental health, embracing your authentic self and how to make positive decisions. Pupils facilitated interactive workshops to complement these original dramas with great success.
On Tuesday, 7th July, St Augustine's Primary School visited 9T, 9W and 9B pupils to watch performed pieces that they had written and directed on the theme of mental health, wellbeing and resilience. After this, pupils were split into groups to take part in a multitude of workshops, such as games, acting scenarios, a photo booth and compliment walls. A really lovely morning had by all. Thank you to Year 5 pupils from St Augustine's for visiting us and for your energy and enthusiasm.
On Thursday, 9G, 9S and 9Y took a very hot walk to St James' Primary school. During the visit they performed their 15-minute pieces to a group of Year 4 pupils, followed by workshops such as games, balloon animal making, 'what makes you happy' pictures, drawing and compliment walls. Excellent work Year 9, lovely resources made, and thank you for hosting St James'; we really appreciated your kindness and positive attitude.
Well done Year 9!
