TWGGS Community Garden

18th Mar 2025

Saturday 1st March saw the first big dig for the TWGGS Community Garden. We had a fantastic turnout of parents, pupils and staff who transformed the plot, removing a very dense weed layer from the ground and fence line, and turning the ground over ready for levelling. The process of deconstructing old pallets to turn into raised beds was started, and large amounts of rubble were removed from the ground with regular visits to the tip made all morning due to volume of material removed.

On Saturday 8th March, we levelled the ground and commenced building several raised garden beds. A 'wild' area was constructed with a variety of different bug mansions, a hedgehog house and Solitary Bee stumps.

This Saturday 22nd will include getting the weed proofing layer down with wood chip top, and finishing as many raised beds as possible, filled with top soil.

We are extremely grateful to everyone who has been involved so far. There has been a really strong sense of community during these events and a very buzzy atmosphere.

You can see the progress we have made in the before and after pictures below (from left to right, top to bottom);
