A packed School Hall was treated to a wonderful evening of music last Thursday evening, rounded off by a whole school dance performance by Year 7.
From Jazz Band to String Group, Harp Ensemble to Junior Orchestra and Flute Group, the full complement of instrumentalists in Key Stage 3 was on show, playing a varied and highly entertaining programme. Soloists featured singers, pianists, violinists, a guitarist and a harpist, while choir contributions included a moving rendition of 'You Will Be Found' from Dear Evan Hansen by Year 8 and 9 Singers. The finale of the first half was brought to us by the whole of Year 7 - a wonderful and rousing performance of 180 voices singing 'I See The Light' from Disney's Tangled.
For the first time ever, the evening also featured a dance performance, which was the culmination of a project this term, again for the whole of Year 7; it was an impressive feat of organisation and choreography to have 180 pupils simultaneously performing to the gathered audience. The pupils created a very moving and special moment as they danced to the song 'Out of the Darkness' from Everybody's Talking About Jamie, which is aptly subtitled 'A Place Where We Belong'.
Huge thanks go to Miss Johnson, Miss Patman, Mrs Waddington and Mr Bicknell for all their hard work in producing the concert.
