Appointment of Lord Lieutenant of Kent's Cadet

Appointment of Lord Lieutenant of Kent's Cadet

19th Oct 2022

Not only has Staff Sergeant Lees in the Upper Sixth been promoted to the Regimental Sergeant Major for the TWGGS CCF unit, she has also been appointed the only CCF Lord Lieutenant's Cadet for 2022-2023 by His Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of Kent.

His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenants in each county annually select a cadet from each of the Sea Cadets, Army Cadets, the Air Training Corps and the Combined Cadet Force .

These cadets are amongst the best in their respective organisations, having completed most of their training syllabus, together with participation in The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme. They're given the opportunity to assist the Lord-Lieutenant at civic and military occasions and, where possible, Royal Visits.

When on duty, Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets wear a distinctive sash with the badge of their appointment, to denote their role. They assist the Lord-Lieutenant at civic and military occasions and, where possible, Royal visits. They also act as ambassadors for their organisations and the young people of Kent.

Lees was nominated for the appointment by Major Reynolds, who praised her many excellent qualities, ranging from a high degree of knowledge and a 'calm, selfless, trustworthy and caring' style of leadership, to being a vital member of the winning team on the extraordinarily testing Cambrian Patrol 2022.

This is an accolade of the highest order and RSM Lees is to be congratulated.
