Last week, our Under 16 Netball Team took part in the Kent Schools' Netball Tournament at Rainham School. Here, captains Lizzie and Kitty report on their performance.
On the 10th October 2024, the TWGGS U16 Netball squad attended the Kent schools’ netball tournament at Rainham school. There we played to our strengths and throughout the day, were in the running to get through to the County finals; it really was incredibly close.
In stage 1, we placed second in our pool, winning every match except for the final one against our friends at TGS. However, it was still very close, with a score of 5-9. In stage 2, we played four games, all of which we either won or came frustratingly close to winning. The competition was very fierce, but we took it in our stride and used the difficulty to challenge ourselves. With two wins and two losses, we unfortunately did not make it through to the finals. However, in all of our matches, especially one against the notorious Sevenoaks, it was a draw all the way up to the end, at which point Sevenoaks just managed to secure the win, with a score of 13-15.
We are incredibly proud of every team member for their commitment and incredible match play, especially on an INSET day. The team played amazingly well and we would like to commend everyone who took part, especially in such horrible weather conditions, with very slippy courts (very proud that there were no injuries). Much thanks to Mrs Haskett for coaching us through and, most importantly, successfully navigating us through the traffic. We will be using this loss to fuel us on in our training for next year. Good job U16 team - we couldn’t have done it without Imi, Milly, Ruby, Daisy, Tilly, Pearl, Lizzie and Kitty!
