Year 10 Spanish Exchange
6th Mar 2024
After a four year break due to the pandemic, we were delighted to revive the Spanish Exchange for our Year 10 Spanish pupils.
On 29th February, 24 TWGGS Spanish GCSE students arrived in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Madrid for their exchange visit. On the first two days they learnt about the Spanish Civil War, toured the impressive monastery built by Phillip II and saw the exchange school in action by visiting lessons. They spent the weekend with their host families getting fully immersed in Spanish family life with a range of excellent experiences (including some snow on Saturday!).
The most iconic sites in Madrid were on the itinerary for Monday, including a picnic in the gorgeous Retiro Gardens. On Tuesday, both TWGGS pupils and their exchange partners went on a joint trip to the nearby city of Segovia, which is famous for its incredible Roman aqueduct. They toured the city and visited the impressive Alcazar, climbing up the 150-step spiral staircase to the top of the tower to see the views.
The visit was a huge success for all those involved and we can't wait to welcome back the pupils' exchange partners in April.
