Yesterday, TWGGS U14 hockey team won the Kent County Hockey Championships. Overall, they played in 6 matches (20 minutes one way) and came out victorious.
In the group stages, the team had a good start by wining 2-0 to the home team, Radnor House. They then continued to draw the following two matches with some strong all round play from both sides. Even with this outcome, they managed to get through to the next round against Tonbridge Grammar School. This match was very tough, but it proved a turning point for TWGGS; it resulted in a shuffle contest, where three brave players and our fantastic goal keeper stepped up to win us the match!
We then continued to the three way final, where we faced Kent college and Ashford in two consecutive matches. First, we beat Ashford 2-0, with a lovely team goal and a short corner goal! To secure the championship title, the TWGGS girls beat Kent college 1-0. It was a great day for the players, who all contributed brilliantly.
