On Tuesday 11th of July, the Kent U13 girls cricket team (including TWGGS girls: Milly, Georgia and Daisy) travelled to Folkestone to play the U15 Australian Wanderers. The Australian Wanderers is a touring side from Australia who have been visiting England for the past three weeks to play other girls' cricket teams and to follow the Ashes.
Kent won the toss and elected to bowl first; in the end, the Australians scored 111 with wickets taken by Daisy and a stumping from our wicket keeper Georgia. When we batted, we got off to a bit of a rocky start against fierce bowling from the Australians. However, after 14 overs, Milly and Daisy built a strong batting partnership, allowing no more wickets lost before the end of the match. Ultimately, the older Australian girls won but we made new friends and had an amazing match tea!
