TWGGS Ski Team Triumph at the Kent Schools' Ski Championships
9th May 2023
On the 7th May the TWGGS Ski Team took part in the Kent Schools' Ski Championships at Chatham Ski Centre where 70 secondary school racers battled it out in two timed runs.
In the years 10-13 competition individual places were Lila 1st, Bess 6th, Amelie 7th, Maisie 8th, with their combined times gaining 1st place. Ella and Alana K were very close with places of 9th and 10th. In the years 7-9 competition Lorraine was 4th, Tabitha 10th, Bella 15th, Suzy 16th, Betsy 19th, with their combined times gaining 3rd place behind TGS and Sutton Valance.
TWGGS A Team (Bess, Amelie, Maisie and Lila) took home the overall fastest female trophy for another year! Lila won the overall fastest girl of the day, winning £150 kindly donated by The Winter Sports Foundation, and placed third overall fastest skier.
The fun team event mixed the racers from the 15 schools up into teams of 4, where they raced dual slalom in exciting head to head knockout races. Alana K and Maisie's team gained 4th placed and Lila's team won 2nd place.
The ski team train at Bowles on Wednesdays 5-7pm where they learn ski technique, drills and practice slalom racing. No previous race experience is necessary to join, skiers just have to be able to ski controlled, linked turns. If you are interested in coming along for a taster session please email
