In February, 25 pupils competed in the British Biology Olympiad, an advanced problem solving competition for A level students. Students were presented with unfamiliar topics and ideas, so had to use their problem solving skills and understanding of core principles.

 

TWGGS pupils performed well above the national average, with Erin Lawley, Tara Carroll, Yaazhini Sudhakar, Sophie Penn, Amy Schipper and Esme Thomas receiving Bronze awards. Millie Gillespie, Astrid Davis, Lily Hemsley and Ella-Rose Angus achieved Silver and Jessica Parkin in Upper Sixth achieved Gold.

 

Jessica has been invited to complete further practical and theoretical training and assessments in order to select a team to represent the UK at the International Biology Olympiad. We are so proud of all pupils who put themselves forward for this challenging competition.
