Year 10 French Exchange

7th Nov 2023
“This October, TWGGS and Skinners participated in a French exchange with a school in Avignon, France, called College Champfleury. They arrived on Saturday 14th October (sadly 2 days later than expected, after they had problems with transport) and we spent the weekend with them before the next school week.

My French exchange partner is called Justine, and she and I get on very well! Instead of feeling like meeting a whole new person, to us it felt like meeting a childhood friend you hadn’t seen in a while. On Sunday, Justine and I, and my friend Anna and her exchange partner, Lucie, went to Bluewater together as a little day out! I found the French exchange an amazing opportunity to practise speaking French but it was easier for us as the French definitely know better English than we know French!

During the week, the French pupils from Champfleury visited London and then came home in the evening. In the evenings spent with our French exchanges, some people went out and some stayed at home. On one of the nights, Justine and I played monopoly whilst watching The Summer I Turned Pretty and she ended up going to jail 10 times (and I won..!). However, on Wednesday they spent the morning with us at school! First period, we had tea and scones in the canteen and they did a quiz. Then, for periods 2 and 3, they joined us in our lessons. Sadly though, the next day they went home. We can’t wait to go to France in May and spend another week with them!”
