Congratulations to Year 8 pupil, Alice, for her amazing achievement of two gold medals at a recent international swimming competition in Germany. Alice tells us about it here, in her own words:
On 8th September, I travelled to Germany for an International Swimming Gala. I stayed with a host family for two nights in Greven.
We competed in the Grevener Freibad (outdoor swimming pool) on Saturday morning in the glorious sunshine. I swam four relays with my team, and an individual 50m Breast and 50m Back, for which I received two gold medals.
Afterwards, we relaxed at a BBQ (eating traditional Käsekrainer) and explored the local town. In the evening, we went to an awards party and we were given our medals for the individual events and our trophy as my team won the whole competition.
The swimming was very exciting but the whole trip was especially memorable because of the hospitality of both my host family and the Greven swimming club. I also tried my best to speak a little German.
