Whole School Chess Champion

28th Mar 2023

Congratulations to Year 9 pupil, Freya Pang, who is the newly crowned whole school Chess Champion after storming through four rounds of intense chess playing! Here, Freya tells us about her impressive victory:

"The number of people who attend Chess Club varies. Some days the room is full (around 30 people) but some days - such as the day of the finals - there were only four of us [as the numbers were whittled down through the rounds]. I didn’t get a prize for winning the tournament, but I don’t think I really need one. After all, the best part of the tournament was playing with so many different people!

I played the final against my friend Parnika Rajput, who I also played in the tournament finals last year. Parnika is a great chess player so the game was very interesting and I had a lot of fun, but I don’t think it was close!"

Well done Freya! If any other pupils are interested in joining Chess Club, they meet on Thursdays at 1pm in H3.
